* Read Traub, C (2006) 'The artist in the marketplace in the education of a photographer':
I'm just going to pop a couple of things down that were of interest to me from this piece of writting.
-I agree when she speaks about photography in the galleries, how it is open to the publics views' and criticisms' and therefore that we as the public audience can decide in our own minds about the works' relevance and importance.
-I enjoyed her definitions of independent, commisioned and contemporary work, this helped be to understand alot more.
-I liked it when she went on to explain 'networks' and the importance it holds when finding locations to exhibit ones' work. The understanding that networks of people relating to, and valuing your work as you do is extremely helpful.
-It is a strong view of hers that fashion is culturally degrading and undervalued as a form of photography, an insult to contemporary artists'.
